Actor Sanjay Dutt has a reason to cheer this Christmas as he has been granted furlough by the Yerwada Jail. His application was sanctioned yesterday.
The actor is serving a jail sentence in Yerwada Central Jail after being convicted under the Arms Act in 2013 in Mumbai bomb blast case. He has reportedly spent over 118 days out of jail, either on parole or furlough (temporary leave of absence) between May 2013 and May 2014. He has already served 18 months of his five-year jail term.
Dutt was visibly happy to be going home. "I was looking forward to today and being with family during Christmas. Furlough is the right of prisoners. We get it every year and I am just making use of our right," he said, adding that he has lost over 18 kilos in prison.
